Description

The obituary and funeral program for Dorothy Nash Tookes, who died on December 12th, 1988. Mrs. Tookes was, among other things, the operator of Tallahassee's Tookes Hotel, which provided lodging for African Americans in the mid-1900s when no other hotels would. Her guests included James Brown, James Baldwin, and Duke Ellington.
