Use and Reuse
A Rights statement is attached to every object in the Riley Museum Digital Archive. That should guide the re-use of the materials outside of this site. If you wish to request a digital file of any of the objects in the Digital Archives, please see the Reproduction Requests and Fees listed below.
The John G. Riley Museum Archives makes every effort to ensure that it has appropriate rights to provide access to content through the Digital Archive and/or has placed appropriate attribution in the object’s metadata.
If you are a rights holder and are concerned that you have found material on the Riley Museum Digital Archive without your permission and believe our inclusion of this material violates your rights, please contact rileymuseum@talgov.com and include the following information:
- Your contact information (including email address and phone),
- Bibliographic details, including title, author, date and publisher.
- A link to the work on our website.
- A statement about why you believe the work is still protected by copyright and why its use is not authorized by the copyright owner or agent; and
- Written documentation, such as evidence of copyright and renewal registrations, establishing your claim to copyright.
Upon receipt of a request, Riley Museum Archives staff will:
- Promptly acknowledge the request via email or other means of communication if you do not have an email account;
- Assess the validity of the request;
- Upon request, we may temporarily remove the material from public view while we assess the concern.
Upon completion of the assessment, we will take appropriate action and communicate that action to you.
Reproduction Requests and Fees
John G. Riley Museum Archives will provide high resolution digital scans of materials in our collections in support of research and scholarship.
There is a fee of $10 per requested digital file. This fee may be waived for students or academic researchers when applicable.
All requests for usage or reproduction files must be received in writing via email at rileymuseum@talgov.com. Once the request is received, Riley House staff will send the patron a Permission to Publish form and explain how to pay the fees. A completed form and payment must be returned prior to release of the digital file.
Reproduction requests are processed within 2 to 4 weeks of receipt.
If the requested materials will be used in a publication/media production, please include the text “Courtesy of the John Gilmore Riley Center & Museum Archives.” when displaying the materials.
