A letter by Rev. Joshua Knowles from November, 1878 that he read at the semi-centennial of Tallahassee Methodism as a Station, giving a description of early Methodism in Tallahassee in the year 1836. That year, he was a pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church, and recalls the Methodist congregation at the time, as well as other aspects of religion in Tallahassee.

It covers the retirement of a notable female pastor in Tallahassee, Bernyce Hall Clausell. Moreover, it highlights her life, from becoming a minister to becoming a champion of civil rights and gender equality.
