Letter from the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare to Thelma Gorham. The Department responding to her allegation of sex and race discrimination regarding the January 21, 1974 letter from Lawrence A. Tanzi, where he wrote that the FAMU journalism department should avoid hiring minority faculty members. The Department indicates that the President of FAMU, Perry, was unaware of that letter and it did not impact the decisions made by the school regarding the journalism department. January 17, 1975
