Photograph of Mary Speed at a family gathering. Mary was married to Deacon Cornelius Speed, Sr.. The Speeds were devoted members of Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida. The church itself was founded in 1898 by Reverend Virgil Speed, who built it and served as its first pastor.
